St. Charles is located approximately 46 miles outside of downtown Chicago, directly west. Commuting from St. Charles to Chicago via car is the best option. Drivers can get on the I-88 and I-290. For those who prefer to avoid commuting by car, the Metra's Union Pacific West line goes directly to downtown Chicago's Ogilvie Transportation Center.
